In 1958, a close friend of our parents’, the architect Omer Van Agtmael, designed our family home, where our father ran his dental practice on the ground floor. Our modernist home has never undergone any major alterations, meaning that all the original stylistic features remain intact. The sense of space in the living room and the view of the garden would never lead you to suspect that you are in a terraced house. The terraces and finishing touches exude tranquillity and style. The rear extension could be converted into an exceptional room with a wide range of potential uses.
It was in this house that our passion for the avant-garde art movement of the time – Belgian abstract expressionism – also flourished. A unique art collection, built up over time, adorned the walls of our modern home. Artists from the G58 movement of the time were regular visitors, lending our home an unforgettable atmosphere. Here, we worked, lived, debated and partied.
